Springboard is a comprehensive professional development program that runs up to twelve weeks delivering practical workshops in the crafts of screenwriting, directing and producing - with an additional focus on how to build and sustain a viable screen business.
Springboard is designed to be a key foundational bridging program for emergers and those seeking to further or transition their skills in the screen industry.
The Springboard program features:
Springboard Plus
With demand for high-quality content at its highest, Springboard is rising to the occasion and offering applicants the choice to enter the program as a Springboard Plus participant.
Springboard Plus gives participants just that! Access to the entire Springboard program mentioned above, PLUS tailored, specialised development support or mentoring dedicated to a short-form project of their choosing. This is a fabulous opportunity for those wanting to develop a short-form project to its fullest potential, and for those planning to apply to the MCX's Quicksilver Production Fund.
Springboard PLUS participants can access:
Quicksilver Production Fund
The Mercury CX's Quicksilver production fund is South Australia's dedicated fund toward short-form content, and this year it will support up to five ambitious, authentic, short-form projects across numerous formats - including films, webisodes and documentaries. If participants are planning to apply for the Quicksilver production fund, then it is highly recommended they enter the Springboard program as a Plus participant. The extra feedback and mentoring given to Plus participants will help to ensure their projects are as competitive and production-ready as possible in what is bound to be a highly competitive year!*
*Note: Springboard is not a pre-requisite for Quicksilver applications.
The Springboard Community
All participants have the opportunity to join the Springboard community – an online chat forum allowing for ongoing collaboration and connection with writers, directors and producers, as well as between-session interaction.
Inclusion Scholarships
In our mission to be more inclusive we will provide TEN scholarships to the program for people underrepresented in the screen industry; including those who identify as women, First Nations, Deaf and disabled, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Persons of Colour, LGBTQIA+ and practitioners from regional and remote areas (those who do not live or work within 100km radius of the Adelaide CBD).
Those suffering from financial hardship may also be considered, though priority will be given to those from underrepresented communities.
Successful recipients of these scholarships will have their fees for Springboard or Springboard Plus covered, though will need to pay a $95 MCX annual membership fee. Scholarships are competitive and decisions will be made at the discretion of MCX executives based upon the information provided in the application form.
